Cream of the Crop Leaders Donates $1000 for Non-Profit Campaigns – Learn More

We love to give back!   Cream of the Crop Leaders donates $1000.00 back to your successful Non-Profit (also called NGO or 501c3) campaigns.  Not an Non-Profit?  Partner with one and you may be more likely to receive funding from donors (who then get tax donation receipts)!

Successful Campaigns defined: 501c3s group workshop campaigns that (1) fully meet funding goals (2) are hosted under the Cream of the Crop Leaders’ (COTC) crowdsourcing partner page, and (3) complete the desired COTC training; individual seat campaigns are not eligible for Cream of the Crop Leaders’ donations.

Benefits when a 501c3 joins your Cream of the Crop Leaders’ campaign

If your group is not a 501c3 there may be benefits when a 501c3 joins Your Cream of the Crop Leaders’ campaign.  Donors would receive donation tax receipts; therefore corporate donors may be more likely to donate – and the 501c3 will receive $1000 donation from  Cream of the Crop Leaders when your campaign is successful!*.   To invite a 501c3 to join your campaign, you have 2 options:

  1. Ask a local 501c3 if they’d like to be part of your campaign: This works well if someone in your group knows of a 501c3 board or staff member; if not, there’s no harm in inviting a 501c3 to be part of your campaign. Benefits:

Benefits to the 501c3:

  • This 501c3 will receive the above-referenced $1000 donation for successful campaigns
  • Optional and additional: Your campaign may choose to offer one or more of the 15 workshop seats to a 501c3 staff, board or client member (of the same age range as your targeted workshop participants).

Benefits to your campaign:

  • If a 501c3 agrees to join your campaign, this group may help to market your crowdsourcing campaign. Many have automated mailing lists, weighty connections, and/or can print out flyers.
  • When you join forces with a 501c3, tax donation receipts are automatically sent to your donors

You found a 501c3 partner: Great. Once you’ve found a 501c3 that is in agreement, simply add the 501c3 number under the Funding tab of your campaign page.

  • If you can’t find a 501c3 that would like to be part of your campaign, you can leave COTC’s Indiegogo’s crowdsourcing platform, and consider going under the umbrella of one of Indiegogo’s Financial Sponsors (FS).  FS’s are 501c3’s who allow some campaigns to fundraise under their 501c3 umbrella.  Benefits: In this case, your donors would get a tax donation. Potential drawbacks: Successful campaigns under a FS umbrella would not be eligible for donations from COTC Indiegogo. Also, FS platform fees may be different and/or additional to those stated.

What do I put on my 501c3 campaign description?

Good question:  All campaigns must meet our special text and image requirements as outlined on our Adult + Youth Launch Kits (under News + Resources, then Forms + Fact Sheets) and be in alignment with Indiegogo’s Terms.

We can help you with this, no worries:  Contact Us.

How much money does my Non-Profit (501c3 or NGO) related campaign need to raise?

You’ll raise enough to cover the total workshop fee (or one-seat price if you’d like to join a Hosted workshop) plus Indiegogo’s crowdsourcing platform fees of 8%.

Determine your 501c3 crowd sourcing goal, by adding 8% (Indiegogo’s crowd sourcing platform fees) to the amount needed to cover COTC’s workshop (or one-seat) fee.

How Much to Raise – for Individuals and For-Profit Groups:

You’ll want to raise enough for the workshop fee + Indiegogo’s Crowdsourcing platform fees of 8%.  Note: None of the 8% platform fees go to Cream of the Crop Leaders (COTC).

501c3 Tax Deductions

Tax Deductions for Donors:  Donor tax receipts would be arranged by you with the 501c3 associated with your campaign.

For-Profits + Individuals | FAQs

Can I crowdsource even though I’m not associated with a 501c3 Non-Profit?

Sure. Individuals and for-profit groups are more than welcome to raise money for one seat, an entire training, or a portion of a training using our COTC crowdsourcing program. Just know that your donors will not get tax receipts unless your campaign is associated with a 501c3 (many donors are okay with this, but large donors may be more enticed by promise of a tax deduction).

Campaigns not associated with 501c3:

  • Must meet our special text and image requirements as found on our Adult and Youth Crowdsourcing Launch Kits (Under “News + Resources” tab, then Forms + Fact Sheets)
  • You must choose “Fixed Funding model” when setting up your campaign. COTC only approves the Fixed Funding model (this means that money is returned to donors if you don’t meet your stated goal within the allowed time), so please choose Fixed (not Flexible) funding when setting up your campaign.
  • If your campaign is not successful (you don’t meet your fundraising goal), there are no platform charges to campaigners or donors. This means that there is no harm in trying; you are not charged anything if you don’t meet your fundraising goal.  Donations will be fully and automatically returned to donors approximately 5 days after the campaign end date.
